Man dies after falling into Middletown silo

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19)- An employee died Tuesday after falling into a silo at a cement company in Middletown.

Authorities say it happened at the Central Ready Mix facility, located in the 4700 block of Oxford State Road.

The victim has been identified as Tim Taylor, 42, of New Carlisle, Ohio.

Middletown authorities say Taylor became trapped in a silo containing fly ash, a substance used for making cement with a similar texture as baby powder or flour. He was reportedly lodged up to his chest.

Rescue crews lowered a rope into the silo in an attempt to pull the victim out but were unsuccessful.

According to Captain Greg Justice with the Middletown Fire Department, the incident was reported around 5:30 p.m. and rescue crews remained at the scene for over four hours attempting to rescue him.
